The Passing of My Mother

It’s been about seven months since the passing of my mother. I’m still making the adjustment. When a happy event happens in my life I still have the thought, "Call Mother." So I just talk out loud as if she is in the room, hoping that somehow she can hear me. You never know who is hanging around from the other side as you go through your day.

When loved ones die it is commonly thought that they go to the other side. But it’s not actually somewhere else, it’s just a subtle state of existence that the normal person doesn’t have perception of. But some do. The two worlds interpenetrate. Souls on the other side can see us but for the most part, we can’t see them.

I once had a psychic wife (now deceased) who told me that my father was hanging around. He had died six years earlier. I guess paternal instincts don’t abandon us after we die. So maybe talking out loud to parents on the other side is not a waste of time. I’m sure it’s comforting to the departed loved one to be remembered.

How long they hang out I don’t know. I was once told by a psychic passenger when I worked at United Airlines that her father stayed in her presence, looking over her, after his death for several years, then disappeared. He came back about 30 years later. It turned out that in the years that he was absent from her he had taken an incarnation in China. When he was through with that life he came back to watch over her. I guess when you have a connection, you have a connection.

And speaking of connections, I feel I still have a connection with my mother. This past Mother’s Day was the passing of my mother. I remembered her as I driving to Durham, North Carolina. I was playing saxophone that night with a band called Abbey Road Live, so I invited her to attend by just talking to her as if she was in the car. Did she come? I don’t know as I don’t see on the subtle level, but she always loved to hear me play. But maybe she has moved on and isn’t concerned so much with our gross world.

On the other side, souls do move on. And they can go where they want at the speed of thought. Another psychic woman I knew (also deceased) said that souls on the other side use sub-subtle energy to create the environment they wish to live in. For instance, you can create a house just by thinking of it. No wonder Jesus said that in his house there were many mansions. They must be all over the place. But what you create is according to the mind state of what you are able to visualize. If you are only used to living in a run-down dirty house, that is what you will create on the other side.

So if you are the type person that likes to prepare, then prepare now for your transition to the other side. Visualization is an important skill to develop. Our thoughts, as important as they are in this world, are even more important in the next. The limits of what we can experience on the other side are limited to the vibrational level that we experience in our physical lives. The make up of the spiritual world that that departed souls experience is determined by vibrational energy. Experience is limited to what you know and believe.

This is where it gets tricky. I was struck by what psychic Filis Frederick said in a lecture in Southern California that I attended in 1986. She said that fundamentalist believers who fully expect to lie in their graves until the sounding of the last trumpet of the final resurrection of souls, as foretold in the Bible, experience exactly that. They don’t realize that they are to move on to the next phase of their journey.

She also shared her experience of listening to a tape of a séance. When the spirit was asked what it was like on the other side, the response was: "Nothing matters but love." But that was the vibrational level of that soul. Some souls who are extremely negative would have a different perspective.

So just because you are getting information from the other side from a departed soul, don’t take the information as the truth. It’s only the truth that they know. The mindset of the individual determines the experience on the other side. Usually the souls that like to communicate through mediums are astral bound due to addictions or just haven’t been able to move on. They are not reliable sources of information.

It’s like freshmen at a university that haven’t started taking classes. They don’t have the full picture. Nor do I expect my mother to have the full picture. Since the passing of my mother I haven't heard a word from other side. An though an occasional hello would be nice, I'm sure she's OK.
