Spirit World -- Life Between Lives

by Gregory Allen Butler

Throughout my life, my thoughts have often turned to death and the spirit world that awaits us all. I have lost to death my parents, a sister, an ex-wife, and almost all of my closest friends. I think about death not because I am morbid but because death is useful to me in putting life into perspective.

For some, death is a reminder that they are not their physical body. They believe they have a spiritual existence that exists beyond death and they have first hand knowledge of it. As I mentioned in an earlier article, my sister's doctor consciously knew about his last 16 lifetimes. To those who know, death is but a transition to another realm of existence, between lifetimes. This is the realm of the spirit world.

A book that I came across recently gives a wonderful perspective on this idea: Life Between Lives by Michael Newton, Ph.D. It is a book geared to practicing hypnotherapists revealing Dr. Newton's step-by-step methods of regressing hypnotherapy clients to what he calls life between lives. He has taken thousands of people into regression for over 40 years to that place, the spirit world, where there is life between lives. After hearing so many descriptions of what is there, he has been able to map the territory.

Dr. Newton is the pioneer in this field. He is the founder of The Newton Institute, formerly known as the Society for Spiritual Regression, which trains hypnotherapists in his techniques.

If you need to jumpstart your spiritual life, then you might consider Life between Lives hypnotherapy. There are hypnotherapists trained by Dr. Newton from coast to coast in the United States. You can find them on the Internet. The consensus is that you cannot have a Life Between Lives (LBL) session and not have your life changed. You will see first hand what the purpose of your life is. You will get a first hand glimpse of the spirit world. You will see your spirit guides. You will see how you came to choose everything about this life. You will see the interconnection of all souls. You will learn lessons.

In 1982 I co-wrote a one-act play called "The Springtide of Creation" with the poet Marc Brutus on this very subject. The setting, like the Dr. Newton's books, was the spirit world - specifically, the place where souls gather before taking birth in a physical body. It was sort of like going to the human resources department of a large corporation. Instead of jobs being listed on a bulletin board, specific lifetime roles were listed, with qualifications.

In the play, one character tries to scare all of the souls from taking a lifetime on earth. After all, the planet is over-populated, crime is at an all-time high, we can't breathe the air, we can't drink the water, and the whole world could blow up any minute in a nuclear war. The spirit world was much safer. But another character had the job of filling all the "openings." His drawing card was that a plan was afoot to create a new humanity on Earth. Life, according to the play, was being stepped up to a higher vibration.

The play was written totally by imagination in a span of five days. Neither of us had ever been regressed to the spirit world to experience what Michael Newton writes about. Nor had we read about it. But there were striking similarities. The primary one, of course, is that souls reincarnate over and over again, learning lessons to help them progress on the spiritual path. The other thing our imaginations apparently got right was that souls objectively pick their lives, having a foreknowledge of what is in store for them. Difficult and challenging lives are willingly taken for the purpose of growth and learning. The play showed, as does the spiritual regression work of Michael Newton, that our physical lifetimes are but little chapters in a huge book, and that there is a purpose behind all of it.

That is what makes Life Between Lives hypnotherapy different than past life regression. It's so much more than just idle curiosity about a past lifetime. It's about discovering "Who Am I?" and the purpose to life. It's about discovering your formless state that will forever exist.

If you're feeling apathetic about life, or wandering through life without direction, then this could be a great tool.

Read his three books, Journey of Souls, Destiny of Souls, and Life Between Lives and see what you think. It's definitely food for thought. After all, the spirit world is waiting for you, whether you want it or not.
