Source of Being Meditation

by Gregory Allen Butler

Holistic personal development places much emphasis on connecting to the source of being in conjunction with any personal development work. Why is this, you wonder? Because wholeness, which comes from your source of being, is critical for knowing what your purpose is. It saves you from just following the dictates of the ego mind, which is more interested in fragmentation and separateness than in oneness. If your goal is unlimited, then you need to go to the unlimited. The finite ego mind, after all, is finite. Unlimited potential only comes from connecting to the infinite source of being. Therefore, if there is no access to it, you are hindered in any personal development growth.

But how, exactly, you ask, do you connect with the source of being? The best way is to focus on it, to contemplate it. The more you focus your attention on it, the more pronounced is its presence.

If you find this difficult to do, you might try reading through the following meditation, which comes from the source of my being. If you feel a new aliveness in your heart while meditating on the words, then you can be assured that you are connecting. Although the source of being exists in everyone, it seems to sleep until it is called upon and acknowledged.

A Meditation on the Source of Being

The source of my being is the source of all beings.

It is the foundation for all life and everything in creation. Without it nothing can exist. Everyone’s being is a manifestation of its abundance.

My source of being has always existed. It exists now and it will exist forever more. It is beyond time. It is beyond the capacity of mind to understand it. It is beyond good and bad, right and wrong. It is beyond all opposites. It is beyond the measure of the mind.

The source of my being is invisible to those with ordinary eyes; however, when the eyes are ready, it can be seen everywhere and in everything. As far as the eye can see, there it is. It can never be abandoned and it never abandons.

The source of my being exists on all levels of consciousness. It exists in the world that we see and in the unseen world of the spirit. It depends on nothing and it exists in its entire splendor eternally.

All knowledge resides in my source. All power resides in my source. All joy resides in my source. All beauty that you see in the world first existed in my source -- the creator of all beauty. All harmony, esthetics, and power have their origin in my source of being.

All peace and bliss first existed in my source of being. It is the source of all life. The light of the sun is but a dim reflection of the light of my source of being.

Trillions of years ago it existed as it does now. Trillions of years from now, it will still exist. Unchanged, undiminished, untarnished and unblimished. Universes will come and go, but my source of being will always exist. It is never born and it never dies. Everything comes from it and everything returns to it. My source of being and I are one eternally. I have no existence outside my source of being. You and I and everything in creation are eternally one in my source of my being, which is the source of all being.
