Law of Attraction and Meaning

by Gregory Allen Butler

People who are familiar with the Law of Attraction know that we attract to ourselves everything that we have in our life, good and bad. The secret of attracting what is positive into our life is being aligned with the highest energies and principles.

One of the most important factors in our ability to attract what we want is meaning--the higher the meaning, the more powerful our ability to attract. If what I am trying to attract is a transient goal, like wealth, and that is what is meaningful to me, where does that leave me after I have reached my goal. Unless my perspective and meaning is far wider, I will experience meaninglessness. My inspiration to achieve will be gone. My energy will be gone. That is why so many men and women go through depression at mid-life. They feel empty. “Is that all there is to life?” is the question that preoccupies their consciousness.

On the other hand, if my meaning comes from helping others achieve freedom and dignity in life, then my meaning in life is endless, as is my power to attract. My magnetism never fades. In fact it grows. That is the nature of the highest power--it expands. The more we love, the more love we have to give. The more we focus on the highest principles—love, oneness, dignity, selflessness, light, abundance—the more purely we become manifestations of those principles. Somebody who achieves the state of infinite love would be Love Personified.

I think of the Law of Attraction as an avenue to experience life at its best. For it to work positively, we have to be aligned with the highest attractor energy patterns. We have to align ourselves with the principles such as love, oneness, harmony, freedom, and infinity. To be attracted to the concept of this law out of greed would be counter-productive, as greed is a very low energy attractor pattern.

Greed might bring you money, but it cannot ever bring you peace because it can never bring fulfillment. It is a narrowing down of life. It is the opposite of the expansiveness of true power. And as I pointed out earlier, you will wake up one day and ask, “Is this all there is?” Without meaning, the answer to that question is yes, that is all there is. But with meaning, the abundance is unending. It goes on forever. We sow what we reap.

Meaning in life inspires. When we are aware of the meaning in our lives, we are emboldened and joyous. When we lose our sense of meaning, we can become depressed and suicidal.

But what does that have to do with the Law of Attraction? Everything! My favorite theoretical physicist, David Bohm, who gave us the concept of the Holographic Universe and the Implicate Order, said that “meaning may also arouse energy, that energy may be in a dormant state, or trapped, and a new meaning, the perception of a new meaning, may allow that energy to be liberated.”

David Hawkins, in his classic book, Power vs. Force, credits Bohm with saying that meaning links mind and matter like opposite sides of a coin. Think about that for a minute or two. If that isn’t the encapsulation of the Law of Attraction in a nutshell, I don’t know what is.

Bohm was the physicist that defined in theory that there is both a visible and an invisible universe—an enfolded universe (unmanifested) that runs parallel to the unfolded, or visible manifested universe. The enfolded universe is total oneness. It’s like the holographic negative. When you look at it, it appears as an attributeless, clouded, undifferentiated mass. But as you most likely already know, every part of the negative contains the information of the whole.

So what does that mean if we are living in a holographic universe? What if the universe is nothing but a 3D projection into space like that of a holographic image? Does that have meaning for you? It does for me. Does it give you a deeper sense of oneness? It does for me. Can you root yourself in the unmanifested? Does that give you a more unlimited outlook on life?

The implications are profound. If we are projections of an unlimited, unmanifested ocean of oneness, then by virtue of that oneness, we are connected to everything in the universe. Manifestation takes on deeper meaning.

Do you see the meaning? Here is how I see it: We are infinite. And that realization is energizing and liberating.

If you are curious what implications this has in your ability to manifest abundance, it has to do with whether it has meaning for you or not. Everybody has to find meaning for him or herself. It’s an inner process. Perception is a matter of consciousness. But if this is something that resonates to the core of your being, you have just gone from being just a little magnet to a high voltage electro-magnet.

Inspiration, joy, bliss, and love come from discovering meaning. The deepest meanings, those based on the higher principles, will never disappear from your life. They will only get deeper as your perception continues to deepen.
