Time Management Articles

Here is my collection of articles on Time Management. Click on the title of any article to read its complete text. Comments arer always welcome.

Priorities and Conscious Choices - Over the last 11 days I had priorities that took me away from getting blog entries uploaded. We hired a friend of ours, a professional contractor, to come in from out of town to remodel our kitchen. And because it turned into a bigger project than expected (we discovered an old water leak from the back of the dishwasher), I had to assist him. His visit turned into seven long days of manual labor for both of us.

Successful Time Management - Awareness is crucial for successful time management. Everybody has heard the expression that time is money. One of my favorite writers, essayist Michael Ventura, once wrote that time is life, meaning that how we use our time defines our life. And if we are unconscious about how we spend our time, then our life is going to be pretty unconscious. Have you ever taken a long road trip of about 500 miles and you figure that based on the highway speed limits and stopping to go to the bathroom and stopping to get a bite to eat, that you should be able to make the trip in about eight or nine hours? You don't stop at every visitor's center you come to. And you don't stop and explore every city you drive past.

Vacation Time - Vacation Time. Spring break. For the next few days, my wife, daughter and I are going on a vacation to the Smoky Mountains. It's something overdue. In the last year, we have made a lot of trips, but they all seemed connected to family emergencies. This time, we're ready to relax and have fun. Without some vacation time to get away, we fall deeper and deeper into ruts and become prone to burnout. Vacation time allows us to put life into perspective, devote some quality time to the people that are important to us, and create some memories.

A 300-Year Lifetime - If I could show you a way to have a 300-year lifetime, would you be interested? It's important for you to know why you are interested. Do you have dreams and ambitions? If so, great. You can make the most out of 300 years. But perhaps you are afraid to die and you are simply looking for a way to postpone the inevitable. I can't help you in postponing the inevitable, but if you have dreams and ambitions, you can increase the effectiveness of your time management, perhaps increase it by a factor of more than four. And that, as far as accomplishing your goals, is the same as having a 300-year lifetime.
