The Choice of a Word - The choice of a word enveloping a thought can determine the tenor of a person’s life. Whatever the purpose and whatever the form -- written, spoken, or silent – thoughts, as words, leave their impressions on the mind. And in so doing, they become the primary force in the shaping of our lives.
The Subconscious -- Key to Successful Life - The subconscious is the source of all great works of art – paintings, writings, music, architecture and scientific breakthroughs. What would have been ordinary becomes extraordinary when thought is transcended, when a connection is made with the infinite intelligence that pervades all of creation. Works of genius always stem from the subconscious, as does all effortlessness. And the reason why is that the subconscious is our connection to the unlimited, the Divine, the source of all light and beauty.
Simple Pleasures - The capacity to enjoy the simple pleasures of life is essential to the enjoyment of the human experience. Enjoying the joke of a friend, the smile of a stranger, the fragrance of a garden flower, or the turning of the autumn leaves, these are the little things that keep us grounded in the unfoldment of the present moment. When people rush through life because they are too busy, these moments are missed.
I believe these moments are manifestations of an infinite intelligence that pervades the universe. This intelligence is the source of an unseen order that creates beauty, harmony, resonance and meaning in a world that otherwise would be total chaos. To appreciate it is to acknowledge it and to acknowledge it is to experience it at ever deeper levels.
Saying Yes to Life - Saying yes to life can make such a difference in its unfoldment. For instance, I am swimming in abundance this week. After a less than desirable start to the week with someone stealing over $3,000 from our checking account, things quickly turned around. After accepting the fact that it happened, I took the necessary steps to get the money back. Everything worked out perfectly. My bank reimbursed the amount that was stolen within 24 hours. Then we received a letter in the mail about an inheritance that was twice the amount we expected. I received a call from a success coach on the West Coast who is volunteering to help me build the traffic on this site to the top 1/10 of the top one percent of all sites within the next year. And then I found out that an investment that we made is poised to make a gigantic return on our money.
True Success - True success isn't luck. Doyle Brunson, the famed poker player who has won numerous World Series of Poker titles in his career, recently said that he would risk everything he owned on a single bet if he felt it was a reasonable bet. He wasn’t afraid of losing everything. He said that was because if he lost it all, he had faith in his ability to rebuild his bankroll. In fact, he had already done that once earlier in his career. He went broke. He then gathered a small amount of money, and started rebuilding his bankroll, and became the legend that he is today.
The Yoga of What Is - This phrase, The Yoga of What Is, was coined by a friend of mine. It has to do with not being resistant to what is happening. It's about acceptance and living in the present moment.
Abundance -- A Question of Attraction - Energy is the foundation of abundance. Positive energy increases it, negative energy decreases it. When we can get free of all the negative, hurtful, limiting, and binding energy inside us, we can become attractors of positive energy. When we are able to smile, we get smiles back. When we are no longer afraid to talk to people, people talk to us. Life starts to work. Vibrations are speeded up.
Desires Fulfilled -- Then What? - What if all of your desires come true? Better than that, what if your desires came true instantly? It would be sort of like having unlimited wishes from a genie in a bottle. Do you think you would be happy? You would probably have the house of your dreams to live in, the most exotic car to drive, the sexiest and most beautiful spouse, the best food to eat, the best wine to drink. And if you're like me, you would desire the greatest sound system imaginable, and that too you would have instantly.
Unlimited Potential - Unlimited potential is our birthright. For we are sons and daughters of the infinite and our true essence is consciousness. Our only limitation can come from our thinking. Look at Helen Keller. She was as wild as any animal in the Amazon rainforest before Anne Sullivan was able to help her make the association of water with the word, water. That was the beginning for her of language and rational thought. That was the beginning of a whole new world of possibilities.
More Than Skin Deep - Years and years ago, in Cincinnati, Ohio, I was the only white musician in what was otherwise a 10 piece black band. And we played at nightclubs that had all black clientele. But the fact that I was white was as insignificant as an unnoticed accident. My consciousness wasn't focused on being white. It was focused on music. The consciousness of the band was focused on music--not on being black. The issue about my skin color never came up. We were doing what we loved, and we loved what we were doing. Only once, and far from the stage, did someone pay it any attention. I heard him yell out, "Hey, look at the sax player." And I guess then some people noticed that I was white. But the people who were enjoying the music never paid it any attention. They came for the music, not to look at skin color. The music was the end result, and ultimately, all that mattered.
Activating Intention as the Ultimate Attractor Energy - Activating intention is the key to unlocking the life of unlimited abundance. I remember when this first happened to me.. I had just turned 21. My energy and inspiration were operating non-stop. This experience of energy was so new and exhilarating that for three months I hardly slept. I would doze off at 2 am and get up again at 3 am to play my sax. My abilities as a musician skyrocketed over night. I discovered an inner life filled with ecstasy. I went back to school at the University of Cincinnati where I had dropped out a year before to join a band. For the first time I began writing poetry and short stories. I took an interest in the life of strangers and senior citizens. I remember listening to jazz on my stereo, playing my saxophone, and reading books all at the same time, such was my desire to learn and improve. This episode was the first time I had wholeheartedly said yes to life. What the shamans call intent became a reality within me. I didn't have any words for it at the time except bliss.
What Ansel Adams Would Have Done
A New Model of Generosity - Ansel Adams, who was in the last year of his life, was busy with his autobiography and doing a lot of archival work, but invited David in to take a look at his famous studio, and asked him to stay for lunch, giving David a great deal of his time to talk about their passion of photography. David said he was so touched by the generosity of Ansel Adams on that one afternoon, that he decided that he would model his life on that same kind of generosity.
Endless Source of Power - If you had a choice between two cars, one with an endless source of power that would never run out of fuel, or a conventional energy type car that would, which one would you choose? Have you ever run out of gas in the middle of a trip? Do you ever feel like your life is running on empty? That's why I don't subscribe to the philosophy of drawing on willpower to reach my goals. If you are drawing upon willpower everyday to reach a goal, you will sooner or later find yourself depleted, like a car running out of gas.
In the Zone - Being In the Zone is possible when your intuition takes over from the mind. You forget the self and tune into the flow of the Universal Self. There is no self-consciousness at these moments because your consciousness is so overwhelmed by the presence of this all-knowing presence. When we surrender to this, an intelligence beyond imagination takes over. It's like Albert Einstein dropping in to help a high school student write a physics term paper on relativity. Or in real life, Mozart "taking dictation" as he composed his music, or Michael Jordan hitting six straight 3-pointers in the 1992 championship series game against Portland, or Johnny Vander Meer throwing two consecutive no-hitters for the Cincinnati Reds in 1938.
Moving Beyond Ordinary - Moving beyond ordinary is as simple as choosing to do so. We need to abandon the world of finite imagination and begin the process of infinite imagination. Just because we lived life a certain way yesterday, and the day before that doesn't mean that we are limited in our choices to living it the same way again today and tomorrow.
Meaning of Life - The meaning of life gives direction to consciousness. The forces set in motion by the unfoldment of the new meaning cannot fail to hit the intended mark. No opposition can be too much. The intention is already a reality even if it is not already manifested. The seed is planted and the tree will grow. No sacrifice will be too great in pursuit of that quest. As St.Theresa was fond of saying, "All the way to heaven is heaven." Purposeful life is driven by motivation; motivation is born from meaning. The energy that flows from meaning to motivation to purposeful life is power personified.
Law of Attraction and Meaning - One of the most important factors in our ability to attract what we want is meaning--the higher the meaning, the more powerful our ability to attract. If what I am trying to attract is a transient goal, like wealth, and that is what is meaningful to me, where does that leave me after I have reached my goal. Unless my perspective and meaning is far wider, I will experience meaninglessness. My inspiration to achieve will be gone. My energy will be gone. That is why so many men and women go through depression at mid-life. They feel empty. "Is that all there is to life?" is the question that preoccupies their consciousness.
Gratitude--The Great Mood Enhancer - One of the most important and attitude enhancing practices you can do is the practice of gratitude. It has the power to lift the mind from despondency to optimism by helping to change the mind’s perspective. It can lift your spirits so high that you can get beyond the mind into the expansiveness of being. It can turn anxiety into inspiration. It can turn an apathetic lifestyle into one of dynamic selflessness.
When I am feeling down, I find that just by changing the focus of my consciousness from one of insufficiency to one of abundance we lift our energy vibration. The shift in consciousness takes place because of the shift of focus. The energy alone from being thankful will lift my spirits.
Perception - In personal development perception is paramount. Without it, we choose the wrong goals, have distorted self-esteem, and get distracted into illusions, obsessions, and suffering.
