Self-Discipline with Meaning

I frequently hear people say that to be successful in life one needs self-discipline. But for some people, that's impossible. It's like there is a chromosome missing, or something. And for others, it's all in a day's work. I've experienced both extremes. I find I have all the necessary self-discipline to reach any goal if the goal has meaning for me. If it doesn't, I don't. Meaning is the transforming agent. It's like an essential nutrient. Without it, I languish. With it, I work with focus and determination that usually hits the mark squarely, and on time.

Human Being -- Concept or Reality

What does it mean to be a human being on this planet of six billion people? In other words, how many people are truly alive, following the prompting of their hearts? Or how many are so wounded that they are just going through the motions, living mechanical lives? Maybe five out of six? What does that say about life on Earth?

Vitamin C Pioneer Dr. Fred Klenner

Dr. Tom Levy writing in the introduction of his book, Vitamin C, Infectious Diseases and Toxins: Curing the Incurable "At the height of the polio epidemic in 1949, when all young parents lived in the fear that their babies and young children would be the next victims, Frederick R. Klenner, M.D., published that he had successfully cured 60 out of 60 polio patients who had presented to his office or to the emergency room! Furthermore, he reported that none of the 60 patients treated had any residual damage from the polio virus that often left its survivors crippled for life. This evidence was subsequently presented by Klenner in 1949 to an annual session of the American Medical Association that dealt with the treatment of polio patients. You will see that Klenner's research and data are clear-cut and straightforward, and it will then be completely left up to the reader to determine how such information was ignored in the past and remains ignored today."

Awakened Living -- Acceptance, Joy, and Enthusiasm

Awakened living becomes possible when we live with acceptance, joy, and enthusiasm. These constitute "the modalities of awakened doing." according to Eckhart Tolle in his book, A New Earth - Awakening to Your Life's Purpose. So it is not so much what we do, but how we do it. Acceptance, joy, and enthusiasm each represent "a certain vibrational frequency of consciousness." To live in denial of these would be to live in unconsciousness.

Humility on the Spiritual Path

We need to be willing to be small. On the spiritual path, spiritual masters such as Hafiz and Meher Baba reveal that there is a veil that separates each one of us from seeing God face to face. The strong willed might think they can just rip the veil apart. But this is a veil that doesn't yield to brute force. All the missiles and bombs of the United States military force couldn't break through this veil. The only way to get to the other side of the veil is to be so small that you can go through it. That is humility.

Blame Game -- Don't Play It

The Blame Game has no winners - only losers. Everybody loses. It's not beneficial to anyone's consciousness to be singled out as a scapegoat. Nor is it beneficial to the consciousness of the one dishing it out. To the one being blamed, it causes shame and humiliation. A shamed and humiliated person in your life is not helpful, so why would you want to help create one. It causes divisiveness and does not foster cooperation. If the blamed person is a loved one, you are throwing a bucket of water on a fire of love. Your relationship is hurt by the blame.

Inflammation Factor

I've been reading about the Inflammation Factor (IF), a revolutionary idea in a new book entitled the Inflammation Free Diet Plan by Monica Reinagel. This book can save lives. Inflammation is a killer. It leads to heart disease and cancer. It also plays a major role in Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, depression, Multiple Sclerosis, premature aging, and asthma, to name but a few. If you have inflammation and you can reduce it through diet, you can find relief from joint pain, hay fever, asthma and skin allergies. It also rejuvenates skin, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.

Contemplation Intensives -- Perspectives of a Modern Day Mystic

I had not heard about contemplation intensives until last month. Since then I had the opportunity to interview a professional man who was transformed by them. He is not your average man. He blends a brilliant mind with a gentle heart to forge a mystical approach to life, seeking the truth. He is trained in martial arts, and follows the path of the Indian spiritual master, Meher Baba. He is also the co-owner of a leading software animation company. He prefers that I refer to him simply as Richard.

Body Pain Solutions -- An Interview with the Expert -- Melvin Mapp

Recently I introduced myself to a man who specializes in body pain solutions. His name is Melvin Mapp. His mission is to help people eliminate pain from their bodies. And he does it very quickly. And differently. His success speaks for itself. For example, there was one man, a wealthy real estate mogul who suffered severe leg pain for 17 years. No one could help. When one of his associates told him of Melvin, he figured he had nothing to lose. The pain was so severe he could no longer drive. He was driven to Melvin's office in a limousine. The driver assisted him up the sidewalk. An hour later, 17 years of body pain and suffering were gone. That is a typical story that have people knocking on his door. I was so fascinated by Melvin's story that I asked him if I could interview him, to share his story on my website. He agreed. Here it is:

Vacation Time

Vacation Time. Spring break. For the next few days, my wife, daughter and I are going on a vacation to the Smoky Mountains. It's something overdue. In the last year, we have made a lot of trips, but they all seemed connected to family emergencies. This time, we're ready to relax and have fun. Without some vacation time to get away, we fall deeper and deeper into ruts and become prone to burnout. Vacation time allows us to put life into perspective, devote some quality time to the people that are important to us, and create some memories.

Believe in Yourself

I saw a billboard on the way home from our vacation that said "Believe in Yourself - pass it on." I can't remember ever seeing a more helpful message on a billboard in my life. What a great message. It creates all kinds of possibilities. Doors open that normally stay closed. Worries disappear. Productivity soars. Enthusiasm for greatness builds with each success. There are no limits to what you can achieve.

Spirit World -- Life Between Lives

Throughout my life, my thoughts have often turned to death and the spirit world that awaits us all. I have lost to death my parents, a sister, an ex-wife, and almost all of my closest friends. I think about death not because I am morbid but because death is useful to me in putting life into perspective. For some, death is a reminder that they are not their physical body. They believe they have a spiritual existence that exists beyond death and they have first hand knowledge of it. As I mentioned in an earlier article, my sister's doctor consciously knew about his last 16 lifetimes. To those who know, death is but a transition to another realm of existence, between lifetimes. This is the realm of the spirit world.

IV Vitamin C -- A Great Resource on Curing the Incurable

According to Dr. Levy, vitamin C in large doses has cured virtually every acute virus that he has treated. He says the evidence suggests that the effectiveness of IV vitamin C treatment is predicated on whether or not you can get a high-enough dosage of the vitamin within the direct proximity of the virus.

Wholeness

To live life with a holistic perspective indicates a striving towards wholeness. It's also a striving for freedom. And only when we achieve this are we truly living. And only when we reach that state of wholeness and freedom can we approach death without clinging to a life that was never fully realized.

Desires Fulfilled -- Then What?

What if all of your desires come true? Better than that, what if your desires came true instantly? It would be sort of like having unlimited wishes from a genie in a bottle. Do you think you would be happy? You would probably have the house of your dreams to live in, the most exotic car to drive, the sexiest and most beautiful spouse, the best food to eat, the best wine to drink. And if you're like me, you would desire the greatest sound system imaginable, and that too you would have instantly.

Stardom and Failure

Stardom and failure. They seem to go hand in hand. Not always, but all too often.Today I became sad when I read about one of the young superstars of the NBA, without a college education, at the top of his game, building a 34,000 square foot house. The master bedroom is over 2,000 square feet. His main goal in life is to be the first billionaire athlete.

Crohn's Disease -- Symptom Free

Recently I received an e-mail from a reader who saw on this site that I had Crohn's Disease many years ago, and wanted advice since I have been symptom free for so many years. This is a very debilitating chronic disease that I was able to beat by having a good diet and a balanced life. Not only did I beat it, I beat it while staying away from the anti-inflammatory drugs, which have side effects such as liver damage.

Writing as Therapy

Guest Article by Maggie Butler -- Writing as therapy is a topic as close to my heart as it is possible to get unless you are the Love Doctor Himself -- or a heart surgeon. Believe me, I shudder as I write the word surgeon. Am I superstitious? You bet. Do words have power? Does the moon wax and wane?
