Follow Your Bliss

To follow your bliss is a commitment to happiness. On our morning walk today, my wife said she wasn't sure if she understood the phrase, follow your bliss. I'm sure there are some misunderstandings and differences of opinion, so I thought I would write about it here. To follow your bliss is to allow the most wonderful world imaginable to unfold. Everyday is an adventure, calling forth the latent genius in you. Consider the words of Joseph Campbell: “If you follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Wherever you are -- if you are following your bliss, you are enjoying that refreshment, that life within you, all the time.

The Powerful Leader

A new type of leadership is making its presence felt--a leadership with a vision of unity, compassion, and principles. The new leader, to be most effective, must be in alignment with the higher vibrational energy. The impossibility of what Mahatma Gandhi did without weapons or violence--throwing the British Empire out of India, is a model, as is the achievement of Nelson Mandela in abolishing the apartheid system of South Africa. A new motto emerges: only the impossible is divine.

Dealing with the Death of a Parent

I was able to process her physical departure and be accepting of it. I intuitively knew that she had returned to an unmanifested state of being. Her consciousness is no less for having left behind her physical body. She is a spiritual being, and she just completed an 89-year physical experience.

Poise--a Game We Play with the Universe

Poise, in our pursuit of consciousness growth, is as important to our success as focusing the lens is to the photographer. Without poise our perception is distorted and our vision clouded. Without poise we are as helpless as a ship without a rudder, and we get tossed around and never get to our destination.

Attractor Energy Patterns

Why are alcoholics prone to staying in the state of alcoholism? Why do people stay in relationships that are painful and difficult? And why do some people go through their entire life complaining how unfair life is? And how do some people detach from all the allurements that captivate most people and experience elevated states of joy and bliss?

Energy Pollution in Consciousness

In this world that we find ourselves living in at this time, the vast majority of people are sleepwalking through life. We accept the way things are and don't even ask why. Forget about a George Bernard Shaw dreaming about things that never were and asking "why not?" But why is that?

Higher Level Functioning

Are you doing your best? If not, why not? Are you lazy? If so, why? Too much stress? What can ouy do about it? Are you inspired? If not, is it possible that you are not pursuing your true purpose in life? Tough questions, but they lead to deep introspection about how we live and think. When we do our best then there is nothing to worry about, because we have done everything we can do.

Hafiz and Emerson

Emerson on Hafiz: "He fears nothing. He sees too far, he sees throughout; such is the only man I wish to see and be." Seeing too far, as Emerson put it, means living in infinity. It means that although a drop of water might be having the experience of being merely a drop from the splashing of a wave, soon enough it will be united back to its original state of being--the Ocean.

Anxiety

When I experience anxiety, I am grateful. That’s right, grateful. Why? Because it’s an opportunity for some inner work. It’s an indication of not living in the present moment, which means not living life fully.

Gratitude--The Great Mood Enhancer

One of the most important and attitude enhancing practices you can do is the practice of gratitude. It has the power to lift the mind from despondency to optimism by helping to change the mind’s perspective. It can lift your spirits so high that you can get beyond the mind into the expansiveness of being. It can turn anxiety into inspiration. It can turn an apathetic lifestyle into one of dynamic selflessness. When I am feeling down, I find that just by changing the focus of my consciousness from one of insufficiency to one of abundance we lift our energy vibration. The shift in consciousness takes place because of the shift of focus. The energy alone from being thankful will lift my spirits.

Not Buying The Thought

The cognitive defusion techniques given in the book, Get Out of Your Mind & Into Your Life, are excellent tools for bringing consciousness into our thought processes. It fosters awareness. It serves the purpose of a scissors cutting a rope that has us bound in captivity. Not only does it help undo the past conditioning, but it also shows ways of thinking and how to observe the thought process so that you don’t create further entanglements. The harsh things we say to ourselves can be so believable unless we can get some distance.
